A Paris-Free Zone

Also, we would like to make it known that no matter what you promise to give me, or what you threaten to do to me, we will NOT be talking about Paris Hilton. Not unless she's involved in some sort of terrorist plot or unless she gets nominated to be the next War Czar in the Bush Administration.
In that case we will make an exception.

Well...it is that time of the month again, and Podcast Alley has erased all of our votes from the previous month. So if you haven't already voted in June, it would really help us if you did. Just click on the links to the left of this blog entry to vote. There is one link for Hardcore History and one to vote for Common Sense.
I have been REALLY impressed with how much being ranked in Podcast Alley's top 10 has helped us. It has really opened a lot of doors and sped up the audience growth. All I can figure is that there are not many good measurements that can be used to judge how well a show is doing...and having a place like Podcast Alley helps.
So, please vote. Ben and I really appreciate it...and it makes a real difference!






The Lovechild Logo Contest

Okay...so Ben and I have been working on the flyer/logo/sticker idea a bit.
We finally remembered an idea we had a while back for a funny image for a flyer.
The hardest part about a flyer is creating the part that "grabs" you. One of the liners that Bill Barrett does for us is: "He's like a love child between Ann Coulter and Michael Moore." We want a picture/image/cartoon/whatever that combines them!
It can be as simple as one's head on the other's body...or some more complex combination of the two. As long as you can plainly see that it is, what it is. The problem is that Ben and I suck at photoshopping and the like.
But, we know we have this whole stable of talented individuals who can be tapped to help make the show better...SO WE DECIDED TO HAVE A CONTEST!
Wanna help us design the new logo? See if you can come up with the best combination of Michael Coulter and Anne Moore and we will give you a "President's Package" (from the merchandising page...) and mention that you won on the Common Sense podcast. Obviously, we will also post your work all over the place and have listeners do the same.
Assuming any of you try...you can post your work on this thread Linkor you can email it to me.

Of Boards and Begging...

It seems as if we have (for the moment) solved our Board issues. If you are still having any trouble, let me know.
In addition, our "Buck-A-Show" concept is in full swing, so if you hear one of our shows, and think it seemed worth a dollar to you, we would love it if you would send it to us (or, better yet, wait until it reaches a larger amount, and just send it to us then. PayPal takes less of it that way anyway...).
We would also like to recognize and publicly thank the people who have (and are) helping us somehow. Ben and I are trying to decide what way would be the best way to do this...stay tuned for more on that.
Until then, thanks so much to all of you who have helped. As I said before, I have come to the conclusion that podcasting has transformed people like me into "Global Street Performers"...and we need the "tip money" to flourish. Many of you recognized this fact and we are very grateful. Now the goal is to up the participation percentage...because that's what makes the dollar concept work...the idea that we are getting it from everyone.
