How do you all know who your secret Santa is? Well . . . you all are way more clever than I am. I have no idea who mine was but they sent me two very AWESOME books and I want to give a big thanks to whomever it was. The books are: Emergence by Steven Johnson and Giants, Monsters and Dragons (an Encylopedia of Folklore, Legend, and Myth) by Carol Rose. Two excellent choices that I'm looking foward to digging in to. Thanks!

You're free to reveal yourself to your gift recipient once they've received their gifts, so if you haven't already then go ahead and do so.
I hope you all had a great Christmas!

My secret Santa also chose to remain anonymous. My gift was waiting on my doorstep when we got home Christmas Eve. It is both thoughtful and appropriate for me. I'll enjoy it for years! (not telling!) So, thank you Secret Santa!

I got my Secret Santa gift with the mail today. Thank you RobRoyDude for the two boxes of Capn' Crunch and the three local newspapers. Now I just got to get over a case of flu, because the last thing I can eat when sick is sweet stuff. I'm gonna put a blanket over the boxes of cereal till I'm well again, and then I'm gonna get all nostalgic. Just hoping it tastes as good as it did in 1990-93, or so. And now that I got my gift, and especially considering I didn't have to guess who it was, and since the one I gave a SS gift seemed glad of it, I was the secret santa of DB. I tried searching for some kitchy lolcat-reference funny thing, but decided against because simply searching for kitchy presents made me want to kill myself..

Ah, thanks dude! Good choices all around. The Emrgence book is fascinating, and the Giants, Monsters and Dragons Encyclopedia comes in handy when I'm scribbling my horror/sci-fi short stories and dreaming of the day I submit a few for publication. Of course. . . if I become Emperor of North America I won't have time for such frivolous pursuits, but it's always good to have a back-up plan.

You're welcome, DB. I picked out the monster encyclopedia based on a search of your posts where I tried finding out if you had any particular historical time period or subject you preferred. When I couldn't find anything, I just went with "something different". ;P As I write in Kath's thread about ants, I knew the Emergence book and remembered vaguely something about you working at a hospital with computers, and of course that you had a BA in history. Figured all that combined might make you interested in Emergence. Glad my keen deductive skills paid off.
