The Board (posting on it) seems slow today

I'm working on changing the posting scripts to make them more streamlined. I have a couple of ideas for reducing the load on the posting.php file, since that seems to be the one giving everybody problems.

After logging in a few times today to check some stuff I have noticed that it still hangs occasionally. It just did when I tried to log in. About 2 minutes or so before it gave me the log in page.

Yeah, I am having frequent long delays. What a vexing problem this is! I know Parrot is working hard to figure out what's up. (If any of you tech savvy people around here have any ideas, post 'em here!)

How about a Dan Carlin Roller Derby Team of chicks that could tour when not recording in the studio with you . . .

Since the problem is intermittent, (and yes, yesterday was BAD,) I'm thinking the issue lies with your host.

That's usually the case on the message board I manage. When it's slow, I contact my host, and the answer is usually, "yes, we're experiencing some latency issues today."

I've been optimizing the database tables, since overhead can be a source of application slowness. The users table had about 300k of overhead, and several others needed optimizing as well.

Please let me know if anybody continues to experience slowness.

Are we making any progress on this Robin????? It's driving me nuts...I can only imagine what it is doing to our audience. :SilentRage:

This should not be that hard to nail down...there are too many other forums that are very popular that are not having these sorts of delay hang-ups.

I would bet money that this is a Register.com issue...(whether they end up admitting it or not)

I've been also having strange problems on the back end, like the server strangely not allowing me to upload files for a period of time. It might be part of the wider server problems.

Anyone using a particular browser version that isn't having problems?

I'm using Firefox 3.6.8 and it has given me problems with gmail and streaming video.
I may switch to IE 8.0.6 for a while to see if it makes a difference.
